Harvard New Music Initiative Concert

In Fall 2016, the Harvard Choruses launched the Harvard Choruses New Music Initiative, a comprehensive program devoted to nurturing undergraduate composers and to creating new works for choral ensembles through commissions, competitions, and residencies. The Initiative supports the creation of new music by Harvard students and the exploration of new music on campus by the Harvard Choruses.

In its first year, seven student composers participated in residencies with Dr. Robert Kyr (Ph.D. GSAS ’89) and the Antioch Chamber Ensemble to have their works premiered and recorded by the professional chorus in Holden Chapel. As the Initiative develops in its second year, it will continue to include workshops, coachings, and performances of student compositions by a professional vocal ensemble-in-residence.
